AMBASSADOR CALLS ON INTEREST GROUPS IN THE UAE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FACILITIES IN OBTAINING VISAS FOR ANGOLA.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola to the United Arab Emirates, Júlio Maiato, appealed yesterday, 14.11.2023, in Abu Dhabi, to interest groups to take advantage of the facilitation and exemption of entry visas into Angola for citizens of 98 countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) opened by the Angolan Government. Speaking during the official act of the 48th anniversary of National Independence celebrated on 11.11.23 throughout the country and in the diaspora, he said that the Government of Angola determined the exemption of tourist visas for 98 countries, including the UAE. Citizens of beneficiary countries are enjoying exemption from tourist visas and can stay for up to 30 days per entry and up to 90 days per year. “We are available to direct any interested party and the Angolan authorities are open to welcoming any tourist or businessman”, stated the Head of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission in this Persian Gulf country.
From the stand, he appealed to the economic operators present to continue participating in the development process of the Angolan economy, taking full advantage of ongoing reforms, such as the Privatization Program (PROPRIV), the Production Support Program, Diversification of Exports and Import Substitution (PRODESI) and the National Promotion Plan for Grain Production (PLANAGRÃO). The Ambassador also spoke of expectations surrounding the holding of COP28, from 30 November to 12 December this year, at Expo City Dubai, in which Angola participates with a high-level delegation. The Angolan diplomat encourages the United Arab Emirates authorities who intend to transform COP28 into a milestone for attracting investments and greater commitment from Governments, the private sector, international organizations and NGOs, within the framework of implementing the energy transition and environmental protection.
The Government, led by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, determined the enormous task to develop the country, primary objectives, such as promoting economic diversification, aiming to gradually reduce dependence on oil, to achieve sustainable growth and inclusive. One of the five axes of the Angola Long-Term Strategy – 2050, recently approved by our Government, is to have a diversified and prosperous economy, with emphasis on the Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, Manufacturing, Mineral Resources and Tourism sectors. Júlio Maiato also spoke about the new Luanda International Airport “Dr. António Agostinho Neto” opened on November 10, 2023. He said that the imposing airport unit will handle 15 million passengers/year, will help to grow Tourism and 130 thousand tons of cargo per year will be transported. In other words, he stated, the New Airport in Bom Jesus, in Luanda, will boost economic growth, open new business opportunities and bring people together. Several individuals in the UAE were present at the event to mark 48 years of National Independence, which takes place under the motto: “11 NOVEMBER – UNITED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ANGOLA”, with emphasis on Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Deputy Minister for of International Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
